The Meaning of Be Motionless

In order to progress you must first understand how to

“Be Motionless”

Welcome to our BE MOTIONLESS Program.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life we tend to lose touch with our true nature. We are bombarded with mobile phones, TV and social media. We can be so engrossed in material survival that our  emotional stability declines day by day. We are living in a highly competitive pace of modern life.

Our Be Motionless program is a lifestyle with no labels. It is based on my 25 years of yoga experience and teaching practice. I have seen, first-hand, the changes that come about naturally when people begin to practice yoga. Our minds are always active on the outside with a list of “Must do” on our daily agenda.

The Be Motionless Program is the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life. It is a complete overhaul for the body and mind. Starting afresh you will have your feet firmly on the ground at all times. It is a program for all ages, shapes and abilities and it is possible to be reach success with a clear vision and the right attitude on a daily basis.

Our Be Motionless Program includes low impact exercises where there are gradual transitions into different yoga poses. By doing this we challenge our muscles to support the weight of our body therefore our bodies will become stronger. When you improve your body’s mobility and health, your life becomes more manageable. Therefore, creating a better work/life balance.

Besides the physical benefits of our program, the breathing techniques that we include will help you to stay present and shift the balance from a tense nervous system (caused by stress and anxiety) to a content, more agile system.

Breathing practices will lower the heart rate and decrease blood pressure.

Regular practice, of movement and breathing, allows the release of blockages and stagnant energy in your body. This promotes the natural release of dopamine which improves your mood!!

Our Be Motionless program is a unique other body/mind experience.

Be Motionless includes all aspects of yoga, from: breathing work; meditation; movement; self-centring; goal setting and much more to get us back on track. The Be Motionless Program is the stepping stone to self-fulfilment. So, jump off the treadmill of stress, while there is still time, and change your life for good.

To Be Motionless is to be happy in your environment. It is perfectly fine to be busy. However, what is desired is, when one is busy on the outside they can remain calm and happy on the inside.

Show up daily and be aware…..

Hello, my name is Paulette Egan and I am the founder of SportsYoga and Co-founder of I-SPY Clothing. I have been teaching Yoga for almost twenty years to all different levels. I keep my classes simple and are suitable from beginners right up to elite athletes.

I feel that interest in Yoga is at an all-time high at the moment and people of all ages are beginning to regconize the physical benefits of yoga. Over my years of teaching, I have met so many wonderful and inspiring people. I create precise training programs for elite athletes. These programs include daily routines as well as breath work to keep them focused and calm. While working with one particular athlete, Joseph Mooney a    high performance swimmer that the idea for Be Motionless came about.

Learning to Be Motionless is a life changing practice and once we learn to quieten our body, our minds will follow and become still and this is the cue to starting afresh.

Joseph was in college and was finding it difficult to manage academia and sport. When I started Joseph on an elite yoga training program, he noticed that he was able to keep that happy work/life/sport balance much easier. Every person needs to learn to relax a little more and let life settle around them.

The Be Motionless Program includes

low impact exercises with gradual transitioning into various positions. By doing this we challenge our muscles to support the weight of our body. Therefore, our bodies will become stronger. When we improve the flexibility in our bodies, our lives become more manageable therefore creating a better work/life balance.

Breathing has shown to lower your resting heart rate and normalise blood pressure.

Regular practice, of movement and breathing, allows the release of blockages and stagnant energy in your body. This promotes the natural release of dopamine which improves your mood!!

Our Be Motionless program is a unique other body/mind experience.

– @07Mooney

Hello I’m Joseph Mooney, I am 22 years old and co-founder of be motionless. From a young age I have pursued a life of high performance swimming. When I was 14 I moved away from home to join one of two national swimming centers in Ireland. For the past 8 years I have been doing 8 to 9 swimming sessions a week along with 3 strength and conditioning sessions. Four years back I hit a bit of a hurdle in swimming and I was trying my very best to overcome this. I thought I was doing everything I could to get better, but there was still little to no improvement. I heard that Paulette was a very experienced yoga coach and had a great reputation for yoga in sports as well as yoga for sports rehabilitation injury prevention. I decided to go to one of her classes and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I approached Paulette and asked her advice on what I should do as a high performance swimmer. She was ecstatic to meet me and learn everything there is to know about swimming. We decided to once a week to practice yoga and see how it could improve my sport. The progress in my swimming was phenomenal. I developed a range of movement and control that I never knew I could achieve. From then my times started getting faster in swimming and in another sport, surf lifesaving, I was winning European medals and ranking top 5 and 10 in the world.

I was really keen on bringing more people with me to yoga and when Paulette was working in the University her classes were filling up. It was a shame that people could not all fit into her classes merely because the might have been a tad late from being stuck in classes, or, they couldn’t make the class because they lived too far away or they were stuck with business or family matters. That is why Paulette and I have come up with the idea of bringing the class to the student rather than the student being brought to difficult locations.

For the past year and a half we have come up with numerous yoga programs for all disciplines of sports, ages, abilities. These programs range from full workout daily routines to short, on-the-go, exercises when time and space may be limited. The program teaches the student, step by step, how the basic movements can have major health benefits. Once the basic movements have been mastered the student can try more advanced versions of the program. Each video in a program will have two people, of similar target audience to the program, which will teach you both the beginner and advanced techniques. Since the class has been brought to you, the steps can be done at your own pace. There’s no judgement, just practice and fulfillment. Maybe if you don’t have the confidence to start off in yoga classes, you might want to learn the basics and then confidently join a local group and already be ahead of the game!

How be motionless might be different to your standard online yoga program is that it is so broad, from your ‘average Joe’, busy lifestyle person to your top performing world class athlete. The program also gives you confidence to make a start. How? Well, it can sometimes be intimidating seeing a fit and fabulous yoga master run through a sequence with ease having many years of practice under their belt. We promise to have at least one ambassador per program that will be side by side Paulette when she is doing the sequence. This ambassador will only have worked with us for a couple months, starting from scratch. Upon watching the videos you will see that it is possible for a person of your discipline to pick up yoga quickly and easily. All you have to remember is that you are unique and that you can achieve anything if you’re consistent and do everything at your own pace.

In standard yoga videos it can often be difficult to see what the instructor is actually doing. With be motionless the programs can be viewed from up to four different angles. The videos can be played in sequence where we thing the most informative angles are, or, you can view a whole sequence from one isolated angle. Every sequence will have an audio file and descriptive info-graphics that will ease the understanding of and difficult movement.

How yoga has benefited me in both sport and life:

-I have managed to break my static barrier in swimming and improve enough so that I can maintain my high performance swimming in one of Ireland’s national centers.

-I am an international medalist and world ranked surf lifesaving athlete who has competed at 3 world championships and 4 European championships.

-As an athlete it can be very stressful to manage academia and sport. Some athletes have to decide what path to choose and that can limit their goals or life after sport. Thankfully, yoga nidra and mindfulness has taught me to manage stressful situations and keep a healthy balance between my sport, academia and social lifestyle. When I was in first year in college I was barely scraping by, I was run down and constantly getting ill. When I started in second year I picked up yoga and all those problems seemed to disappear. I have now qualified with a top first class honors degree in mechanical engineering and I am currently on an academic PhD scholarship with two major companies and a funding body.
